Sling Wear Pads
Overview
Sling Wear Pads are used for abrasion protection at the contact points between web sling, round sling, lifting sling, and the load. Oppermann manufactures European Style Eye Sling Protection Wear Pads, Edge Protector Webbing, Leather Webbing, and Leather Webbing Protector Belt, covering sling eye protection, edge protection, and high-friction contact surface protection.
This series mainly uses Polyester protective webbing. Current specifications cover widths of 80–300mm, with a thickness of 0.9±0.2mm, standard color Blue, and RAL color 5015/5010. Sling Wear Pads are installed at wear-prone positions on the sling to distribute friction, protect the sling surface, reduce cuts, and extend sling service life.

Oppermann manufactures Sling Wear Pads according to sling type, load contact surface, and use position. Custom options include width, length, thickness, material structure, color, RAL color, fixing method, sewing method, label content, packing method, and customer shipping marks.
Wear pad structures can be divided by installation method into wrapped eye, sewn body, sliding sleeve, and Velcro sleeve. wrapped eye is used for sling eye protection; sewn body is fixed at a specified wear position; sliding sleeve is suitable for adjustment along the sling body; Velcro sleeve can be directly wrapped around the target position and is used for long slings or applications where the pad cannot be inserted from the sling end.
Batch orders are produced according to approved samples and confirmed specifications. Width, length, color, fixing method, and packing identification are implemented consistently to ensure that products from the same batch remain consistent in size, appearance, and installation position.
Benefits of Sling Wear Pads
Durable Construction
This wear pad is manufactured using tensile polyester material which provides strength and abrasion resistance. Polyester is durable under heavy loads, resists stretching, and withstands moisture, UV exposure, and mild chemicals.
Compatibility
This wear pad is a protective sleeve designed specifically for web slings. It is designed to fit 2-inch-wide slings and ensure compatibility without slipping or leaving gaps.
Enhanced Safety
The wear pad protects the web slings from damage and reduces the risk of equipment failure during critical operations. Its design prevents fraying and wear and ensures the sling maintains its load-bearing capacity.

Different Styles of Wear Pads
The available wear pads styles include wrapped eye, sewn body, sliding, and Velcro sleeves.
The wrapped eye wear pad involves taking the selected material and sewing it around the sling’s eye to provide protection.
The sewn body wear pad is made by cutting the material to the desired length and sewing it directly onto the sling at the required location. In the photos below, you’ll see a ballistic sewn body sleeve on a 2-inch flat web sling.
The sliding wear pad is constructed from the selected material, it is cut to the required length and sewn along each edge to create an opening in the middle. This allows it to slide onto the sling via the end and move along the body to the desired position, typically at the point of contact.
The Velcro wear pads is similar to the sliding sleeve, the Velcro sleeve can also move along the sling’s entire length once installed. However, the primary advantage of this style is that it does not need to slide over the sling’s end. For instance, do you have a long 20-foot sling? With the Velcro sleeve, you can open it and place it directly onto the sling at the desired position.
Practical Applications in Different Industries
Construction and Heavy Lifting
Sling wear pads is extensively used to lift and move heavy construction materials. Its flexibility allows it to wrap around irregular shapes without causing damage.
Shipping and Logistics
In ports and warehouses, sling wear pads helps secure cargo during transport.
Industrial Maintenance and Rigging
Sling wear pads is preferred for lifting delicate machinery or sensitive equipment due to its soft surface and high load-bearing capacity.

Quality control for Sling Wear Pads focuses on abrasion protection, stable fit, and batch consistency. The production process covers yarn preparation, weaving, cutting, sewing, edge finishing, rolling, and outgoing inspection. Key inspection items include width, thickness, gram weight, color, weave density, seam strength, edge condition, and surface defects.
Before shipment, the matching size between the wear pad and sling, fixing method, integrity of the abrasion-resistant surface, edge fraying, sewing position, label information, packing quantity, and carton marking are checked according to the confirmed specifications. The quality process follows ISO 9001, ISO 14001 management systems, customer-approved samples, and outgoing inspection requirements for lifting protection scenarios, ensuring that products from the same batch remain consistent in size, color, structure, and appearance.
